first_imgBy Joe ChapmanEIGHTEEN sports representatives from Linden have successfully completed the Guyana Olympic Association’s (GOA) 20th annual Olympic Solidarity-sponsored Sports Administrators Course which was held in Linden over the weekend at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Centre.The four-day course, which actually began last Thursday and concluded on Sunday, had at the conclusion two participants who topped the course by gaining over 90 percent, namely Delon Peters and Richlin Paton.GOA official Garfield Wiltshire noted: “Of the results there were seven with A, which is above 80 per cent. Actually there were two persons above 90 percent, three persons in the 70s, six with C which was above 60 percent and two with D – above 50 percent.Mayor of Linden Mrs Waneka Arrindell, at the closing ceremony, was proud of the achievement and remarked: “It is a privilege to be here. Linden has been the best in sports all the time and it is a privilege for the GOA to actually come here, rather than we being a part of them, without this we are still the best.“I am very grateful to be here I am truly honoured. We are proud of the training that you have given to the residents of Linden.”Wiltshire, however, said: “I would like to congratulate you on a job well done and that you would have retained much of what was done even though there were a lot of complaints but I congratulate you on a job well done.Those who were certified at the end of the four-day Sports Administrators Course were Lisa Chee-A-Tow, Christol Thom, Richlin Paton, Melissa Joseph, Shanna Chester, Jamila Wills, June Harris, Dr Karen Perreira, Nichola Jacobs, Nyamikky Johnson, Annetta Assanah, Irin Cadogan, Shanees Velloza, Cliffana Hunter, Dillion Scipio, Swain Ross, Delon Peters and Dwayne McKinnon.Course Director Claude Blackmoore in giving his overview said, “An overview of this course which happens to be our 20th Administrators Course we have been hosting is one where we have been to about 15 different areas. Why 15 and not 20 is because we have been to some areas more often than once.“From my quick look and assumption of our candidates and their performances today, I would like to say to each one of you present, congratulations on work well done. Congratulations on what you have produced in terms of your actions.“Congratulations in the manner in which you presented yourselves. Congratulations in the various pieces of issues which you identified and for which you have made suggestions.”last_img
