Cavaliers moving Love to center, Thompson to reserve role

first_img“With Jae starting at the four, LeBron’s able to roam freely on the defensive end,” Lue said. “Jae will take the toughest matchup between the 3s and the 4s and LeBron will be able to roam and kind of quarterback our defense. Being that back line defense, talking, communicating, and also being able to pick off passes when guys are throwing bad passes. I like LeBron in that role because he’s great at being the help guy, being in the right spots at the right places, so I think it will be good for us.”For now, James is sidelined with a sprained left ankle sustained last week in practice. Lue said the three-time champion will not play in Wednesday night’s exhibition opener against Atlanta. James’ injury is not believed to be serious, and the Cavs will make sure he’s full healed before he plays.Lue said he expects James on the court at some point in the preseason. Cleveland opens the regular season on Oct. 17 against Irving and the Celtics. Lue has experimented with Love at center during training camp and believes the new-look lineup will create matchup problems for opposing centers as well as open the floor for LeBron James, Derrick Rose and others.“He’s a great passer,” Lue said of Love. “Fives (centers) have to get out and try to guard him on the pick and roll with LeBron and D-Rose and those guys making plays, so it’s going to be tough for those guys. We liked it.”FEATURED STORIESSPORTSWATCH: Drones light up sky in final leg of SEA Games torch runSPORTSSEA Games: Philippines picks up 1st win in men’s water poloSPORTSMalditas save PH from shutoutCenter Tristan Thompson will come off the bench, and newly acquired forward Jae Crowder will take Love’s former spot, Lue said. Cobras Take Out The Women’s Open Title In A Thriller

first_imgBoth teams were reduced to four players before the Cobras’ Charlotte Caslick scored in the corner to take the 6-5 win. The Swans started off the game in impressive fashion, scoring in the fourth minute through Brittany Spencer in the corner to take an early 1-0 lead. The Swans were in again at the midway mark of the first half, when a great ball from co-captain Emilee Cherry saw Shanae Ciesiolka score to give her side a 2-0 lead. The Cobras made their first mark on the scoreboard with five minutes remaining when Stevie Lee Thompson scored off the back of some good phase play to take her team within one touchdown. This sparked the start of an impressive array of attack by both teams, with the Swans hitting back in the next set when Ashleigh Kearney dived over to take her team’s lead back to two. The Cobras were back within one touchdown in the next set of six, when Rachel Noble scored and when a great wrap around play by Caslick and Kelly Woods resulted in a touchdown to Sharon Martin, the Cobras had levelled the game up, going into the half-time break with the score locked up at 3-all. The Cobras took the lead for the first time in the match in their first set following the break, when a long ball from captain Mary Steele saw Kathryn Stevens score in the corner to take a 4-3 lead. It took over 10 minutes for either side to convert their opportunities on the scoreboard following Stevens’ touchdown, with both teams’ defence holding strong. In the 15th minute the Swans hit back, with Gemma Etheridge scoring to level the game up at 4-all with five minutes remaining. Twin sister Nikki Etheridge was the next to score for the Swans and took the lead back for her side when she scored with two minutes remaining. But the Cobras weren’t done, with Charlotte Caslick setting up Anna Hicks to score in the next set and bring the score back to 5-all. Both sides were unable to score that elusive touchdown in the final minutes of the game, forcing the game into a drop-off. The Swans tapped off for the start of the drop-off but were unable to score in their opening set of six, while the Cobras failed to score on their return set. Two minutes passed and teams were reduced to four players each before a pass from Steele found Caslick who was able to score in the corner to take the win and title 5-4. The Cobras’ Kirsty Quince was rewarded for her strong performance in the final, being named Player of the Final while Victorian captain was named Player of the Series for her efforts in helping her side make the semi finals of the Women’s Open division for the first time in the history of the event.   To view the highlights of the game, please click on the link below:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG6YZ0yQorU&feature=plcp&context=C40b8ec6VDvjVQa1PpcFPrYFhxxhhUphxATV_rZ_4M2NQP7UBbfA8%3Dlast_img read more
