Pivotal Tracker: Free No More

first_imgPopular Web-based agile project manager Pivot Tracker will start charging on July 19, 2011 – about six months from now. Pricing will start at $7 per month for teams with up to three collaborators. More information can be found in the company’s announcement and on its pricing page.Pivotal Tracker will remain free for some users: individuals, public projects (those with logs that are exposed to the public), non-profit users and educational users.Response from the community has been generally positive. This tweet sums it up: Growing Phone Scams: 5 Tips To Avoid Tags:#hack#Tools klint finley How to Write a Welcome Email to New Employees? 7 Types of Video that will Make a Massive Impac… Why You Love Online Quizzes Related Posts However, there are some legitimate concerns about the new pricing model. Since it charges per user, adding additional users to a project – such as clients -ratchets up the price considerably. Commenter dasil003 posts at Hacker News:I don’t have trouble paying for full-time dev collaborators, but the head count could become a pain point once you roll in various tangential roles such as management, support and sales, etc. I’m not sure the best way to handle this without opening loopholes, but I’m hoping they reach out to some of their users who aren’t quite so developer heavy as pivotal labs to discuss options.Surely a compromise can be reached.Technical writer Ryan Bigg provides a bit of Pivotal Tracker’s history:5 years (or around 1,826 days) is immensely long time for a Rails project to have been around. 5 years ago, Rails was at 0.9.4, very nearly at 0.9.5. This project was before Rails was mainstream. The Pivotal Labs crew have done a tremendous job on it, constantly upgrading its features and most recently overhauling the UI to something very, very hot. For 5 years, it’s been free to use for anyone and everyone, but now they would like to start charging for it and I think this is a great idea. With the Pivotal Labs team now electing to transform Tracker to a paid service, they’ll be able to dedicate more people to work on it and maintain it, leading to a better experience overall. This is a long time coming – hopefully it will work out well for everyone.last_img read more

Services output growth plunges to 6month low

first_imgNew Delhi: The country’s services sector activity eased in March with slowest pace of output growth in six-months due to a slower expansion in new work, leading to weakest rate of hiring since last September, a monthly survey showed Thursday. The seasonally adjusted Nikkei India Services Business Activity Index fell to 52 in March from 52.5 in February, indicating the slowest expansion since last September. Despite the moderation, the services PMI was in the expansion territory for the 10th straight month. In PMI parlance, a print above 50 means expansion, while a score below that denotes contraction. Also Read – Thermal coal import may surpass 200 MT this fiscal”Indian service sector growth weakened at the end of the fourth quarter of FY18, with activity expanding at the slowest rate since last September,” said Pollyanna De Lima, Principal Economist at IHS Markit, author of the report. Meanwhile, optimism regarding the year-ahead outlook for business activity strengthened for the second month in a row. “Business expectations strengthened in March, indicating that services companies are hopeful that conditions will advance in the months to come. However, an anaemic pace of job creation hints that service providers are not fully convinced about a shift into a higher growth gear,” Lima said. Also Read – Food grain output seen at 140.57 mt in current fiscal on monsoon boostMeanwhile, the seasonally adjusted Nikkei India Composite PMI Output Index, that maps both the manufacturing and services industry, dipped from 53.8 in February to a six-month low of 52.7 in March. “Digging deeper into the anecdotal evidence provided by surveyed firms, there are concerns about delayed payment from clients and a challenging economic situation,” Lima said. Firms commented that successful marketing efforts and greater demand underpinned the rise in sales, but some noted that an increasingly competitive environment acted as a brake on growth. On the prices front, input cost inflation eased, while an acceleration was seen for services charges. Experts believe the Reserve Bank of India may adopt an accommodative policy stance in the first bi-monthly policy review meet for this fiscal.last_img read more

Mamata accuses Modi of buying votes with black money

She alleged that the saffron party is importing guns and goons to ensure votes in its favour and said that such a situation will not be allowed to develop in Bengal. “Modi Babu you may forcibly impose notebandi (demonetisation) on people to convert black money into white and spend them during elections to purchase votes, but you can never purchase voters in Bengal,” Banerjee said at a public meeting at Serampore in Hooghly district in support of Trinamool Congress candidates. Calling upon people to defeat Modi, she said “If you want to save the country and our Constitution, drive him (Modi) out of power and save the nation from disaster.” Banerjee expressed confidence about the victory of her party’s candidates and said “The BJP will not get a single seat.
